The Silverado is clean!

Washed for the first time in a very, very long time. It changed color it was so dirty. And no, it wasn’t because of the metallic paint. It’s never getting that dirty again if I have anything to do with it.

The I decided to go and take these pictures.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I love these.

The Silverado is that big? The S10 is that small? It makes the S10 look like a toy.

It’s lifted 6 inches and is on 35" tires. So it’s a little bigger than a normal one.

How did you drive both trucks at once? What magic powers do you possess that you’ve never made me aware of?

It’s called a 16 year old brother.

Though I live close enough to this lot I could drive one over, walk back and get the other one.

Tiny truck is tiny. I don't think there's any optical illusions going on.

With that lift and tires the silverado should never be clean. Should be covered in dirt and mud

Mind if I ask a few questions about the Silverado?

I’ve still got one of those on my to-consider list.

How loose is the steering?

Reliability?

What are the brakes like?

Thanks!

Now that the front CV joints have been replaced, the steering isn’t bad. It had a lot of on center play before. It’s vague, but that’s going to be any truck. It’s easy to keep it going straight on the highway, no re-correction really needed.

12 years and 145,000 miles and the only reoccurring issues have been the CV joints and the water pump. CV joints are due to the lift though, the water pump is because DexCool is satan. Switch the system to normal coolant and it won’t be an issue. Other than that just plugs and wires, tires, and oil. Oh, it rear axle seals but that’s not that serious of an issue. The engine and transmission have been flawless though.

Not gonna lie, the pedal feels like pushing on a bag of mashed potatoes. The brakes work well, and would probably work better with normal sized tires. The factory brake lines on these have a tendency to rust out. All the hard lines on this got replaced recently because of that. They’re so old now that most have probably had their lines replaced with coated ones by now.

Sounds like a good truck all around! Thanks!

Any major gripes you have with it?

Like, I’ve driven a 1991 Exploder with 150,000 miles on it and I didn’t mind it at all. So I’d assume I wouldn’t mind a 2004 Silverado with under 100k on it.

I have to say, if I had to pick between a GMT900 and a GMT800, I’d pick the GMT800 every time.

My only gripes come from this truck being one step up from a work truck. Things like the radio leaving a bit to be desired, floor mounted 4x4 control, and the urethane wheel.

I will say if you get a V8 model, get an aftermarket exhaust. It brings the engine to life sound wise.

How about something like this?

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/…

I’d have to get a leveling kit though. The GMT800 platform trucks look too low to me for some reason.

Oooh, that’s nice other than the wheels. Even better with the full center console over the bench seat.

They do sit strangely low from the factory. Hell, my grandma’s Ram 1500 is nearly as tall as this one that’s lifted 6 inches.

I’d probably replace the wheels with these or something, rip the nerf bars off, black out the Chevy bowties and get a Ranch Hand grille guard for it.

Ugh. XD wheels are so damn overplayed. It’s the first item any bro puts on their truck around here. They’re as played out as Torq Thrust IIs are
